Fripp Island Resort Recreation Employee and Watercolor Artist.

During the summer following my freshman year of college, I had the amazing opportunity to work as a Recreation Employee and Watercolor Instuctor for the Fripp Island Resort Activity Center in South Carolina. This consisted of 40+ hours of work each week during the busiest time of the year. The Activity Center offers programs for all ages and are led by college interns/employees. Over the summer I worked Arts & Crafts, Sports Tournaments, Scavenger Hunts, Camp Fripp, Meet the Animals, Kayaking, Tie Dye, Trivia, Turtle Walks, and the famous Fourth of July parade that my family has won in the past.

Further, I was the only employee that held a higher position in an Activity Center Program. The Activity Center offers a Canvas and Cabernet program where vacationers can have a lovely romantic night out and learn to paint their own masterpiece while enjoying a glass of wine. The program was in place before I arrived with an acrylic artist, but I debuted the watercolor class the week of the fourth. Rather than 20 people atending the class, over 40 people signed up and participated for my first watercolor class. I received wonderful feedback after my first class and was asked to teach classes for the rest of the time at my job. This was one of the highlights of the summer. I had a woman come to my class, enjoy my class so much that she insisted I do another one the next week. She also said that she wanted to give her watercolor painting to her daughter for her 32nd birthday. The next week she returned to my class with her painting framed in a large cream colored matte with a pale purple accent and a dark frame.
